Jazz on a Summer’s Day- A glimpse into a golden era.

A short time ago I borrowed noted photographer Bert Stern’s only film , ‘Jazz on a Summer’s Day‘ from a local library. While I had heard of the legendary performances it contained I was not prepared for the myriad of colors and stylistic gems that appeared in front of me. ‘Jazz on a Summer’s Day’ is not only a magnificent Music Documentary, but a gorgeous glimpse into another time.
Here are a few performances I found on youtube:
Anita O’Day- “Sweet Georgia Brown” and “Tea For Two”.
Dinah Washington- “All of Me”.
Big Maybelle Smith- “Ain’t Mad At You”.
